[caption id="attachment_152" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Summer fun in KC doesn't have to be expensive.[/caption] One of the great things about summer in Kansas City is how much there is to do. All across the metro area, summer events are great opportunities to see and do something new, especially on a date. You don’t have to be in high school to take your special someone out for a date. Whatever your age, the KC metro provides a lot of wonderful, cost-effective date ideas for you to choose from. Here are a few things to keep in mind for you and your spouse or significant other this summer. See a little history- we’re fortunate to have many great museums right here in Kansas City. Take advantage of all great knowledge and experiences stored in The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Kemper Museum of Modern Art, the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the American Jazz Museum at 18th and Vine. Stretch your legs- if you and your spouse or significant other want to stay active, you can hit the numerous trails and outdoor areas the KC metro area has to offer. Be sure to check out the Overland Park Arboretum, Leawood City Park, Ernie Miller Nature Center trails, Antioch Park, Loose Park, Kauffman Gardens and Shawnee Mission Park. You can select one day a week to visit one of these parks to cross them off your list. Catch a free gig- you don’t always have to pay a lot to hear great music. Places like The Legends, Zona Rosa, the Plaza, the Blue Room and the Power & Light District have free or low-cost concerts that may be just what your ears need. Take advantage of First Fridays- the first Friday of each month means lots of great music, art galleries and food in the Crossroads District. Though you may have to pay for parking, most of the other entertainment options are free of charge. Do dessert only- is there a restaurant you’ve wanted to visit but don’t want to shell out for dinner and drinks? Do dessert only. Cook yourself a nice, inexpensive dinner, then head out to the restaurant with your beau to enjoy some well-deserved dessert together. What other inexpensive date ideas can you think of?
